Yes, that is who I bought it from, John Raney, he told me the exact same thing you did.

I paid $3850, reserve was $3500, and Ebay ad said he would consider offers so I made the call.

I know how you feel, two weeks ago, I sent a cashiers check to a guy in LA (Craigslist ad) on a 59 W300, been looking for 15 years for one. Turns out somebody saw my post on PW Forum, and went over there and made a higher offer, so I lost out by $600.00. Had that not happened, I likely would not have bought this one.
