The Truck of the Week belongs to Hobcobble. It once belonged to Jim Veen, one of the original Sweptline forum members. It seems that I have seen this truck often, yet while reviewing the past photos, I didn't spot it. Now that could be because I don't see too well these days, but I'm still thinking... how can that be? I'll leave the details out as John has already posted a thread about the truck this week. Nice garage John!
Now, for one of those self serving and boring "Christmas Time Letters"
I also missed noticing that this is the 7th Christmas Truck of The Week, since we started the Truck of The Week as a permanent feature. So I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has sent me photos over the years and apologize to those who sent me photos that never were posted. I'm trying to re-organize my in-box so that next year I'm a tad better at this. Besides the DTA letters and photos, I receive nearly 100 emails per day, as I post and write articles and blog spots for both Jeep and Chrysler as well as trying to wind down a Construction Business and fail miserably at restoring and repairing projects on the side. (sorry Frank!)
It's been both a hectic, busy and boring year around our place. At the end of last year a building that my Dad owns, exploded and burnt nearly to the ground. So that kept us very busy until Feb, when I started what unknown to me, would be my last major construction project, a 29,000 sq ft. warehouse. 3 days away from completion, on a Friday night, I went to bed and all was well, I awoke the next morning blind in one eye. I've spent the last 6 months undergoing surgeries and treatment, lying stationary (the boring part) for two months and trying to come to terms with the frailties of the human body and not being able to work, drive or see very much. In the middle of all that, my first born, oldest daughter announced in June that she was getting married (you do know that the brides family pays for everything right?)! Having turned down $6,000 to elope, her plans and preparation for a January wedding have been a joy, bittersweet and stressful to say the least and my big goal is to see well enough to walk her down the aisle without tripping, then father-daughter dance is the next big hurdle. I'm glad I'll be able to see some of it. I have another surgery, just days after the wedding.
That brings me to Phil, thanks bud! I could not have kept the forum going without your tremendous help over that past year. You have been gracious!
To all of you, thank you for your wonderful support and participation this past year! Thank you for your generosity to the family of our departed friend "Ugg".
Through birth, death, health issues and weddings, we have the trucks that binds us all together. I remember the very first time, over 10 years ago, that I went on-line and found actual Sweptline owners and thought... "WOW! someone else has one of these ugly trucks!!?" Ha! Ha! It was a weird feeling to not be "alone" anymore! Now as the Registry nears 900 Sweptlines I'm looking to next year as the best year yet and when we pass 1,000 trucks....who will it be?
Thanks!
Norm
