went out to swap the steering parts over today and im glad i started under the hood. seems the power steering pump and belt is also the only thing that turns my water pump. so what was the set up on a 70 with MANUAL steering and a/c?? im assuming an idler pully, but i guess it could have been different pullys on the water pump and a different belt routing. any one have pics of what it should look like?? how about the parts to convert it???

1969 Dodge Powerwagon 4x4 Camper Special W200 Sweptline 3/4 ton. Mild Restomod with the following features:
- Ceramic headers, dual exhaust, dual glasspacks
- 4 speed NP 435 (factory)
- Dana 60 front end w/disk brakes (from 1980 1 ton) 3:55 gearing
- Dana 60 rear end (factory but I changed to 3:55 gearing)
- True Power Steering (from GM)
- NP 205 transfer case (factory)
- Has the optional bucket seats with a center seat that lifts up for storage under
- Super heavy duty custom driveshafts all with 1410 yokes
- AM/FM/CD
- Cobra CB

The body on this truck is super straight. No problems, no hidden surprises. Some small chips here and there and minor paint imperfections but overall great shape. Truck is driven daily and is reliable. It's not a show truck. It looks good and is presentable but it is driven and used as designed for. Dirt, grime chips, wear etc. Runs true on the highway and does not lane wander. Very solid and well balanced. Get's decent gas mileage with the small block and 3:55 gearing... about 20 mpg on highway and 12 around town. Not sure why the big difference but that's where it's at. The truck engine was rebuilt about a year and a half ago and has approx 15,000 miles on it since. The engine has no leaks and runs excellent.

Call only if interested and if you have $9,950 cash.

on my 70 d100 i have..

6 spring leaves up front that have the 4 upper most that are banded together with the plastic sliders built in the ends, then 2 short ones at the bottom that are pretty stout and slightly thicker. they share the same arch as the rest of the pack.

4 spring leaves out back, top 3 are banded with the plastic sliders and the bottom one is at least twice as thick as the rest and pretty short. doesnt appear to have an arch, just looks like a flat load carrying spring.

data tag shows the suspension to have been bone stock d100, but im leaning towards some upgrades being made in the past. truck rides pretty stiff and sits taller then the others i have had.

so what do you have? im curious how mine compares..

steering link question...... (10 replies)

my 70 d100 has power steering, i dont like it and want to go bck to manual. i took the link off my 66 parts truck to do the swap, faught me pretty hard, but it looks to be identical in spaceing to what id need on the 70. when i called the parts house to see if they shared part numbers, they tell me the 61-68 and 69-71 are different part numbers. i compared both trucks, the ball joints on the arm line up, of course the power ne is dead straight and the manual one has the bend in it, but i dont see where that would matter. the only difference i see is the pitman on the steering box for the 66 is dead straight where the one for th 70 has a crook in it. does any of this matter as long as the ball joint ends are in the same location?? will they swap without issue?? any one know what the difference is in a 70 manual steering arm and a 66?? i dont want to tear apart the 70 till i know for sure it will work. the new link is available, 7 day order and $120. id like to avoid that route as well. any help would be appreciated.

i tell you what, ill trade the entire power steering set up, pump, brackets for an LA block, ram, hoses, steering link etc etc for a new manual steering link to fit my 70 d100 and you pay all the shipping. the only thing i find wrong with it is it occaisionally sticks on a left turn. its like manual steering for a second or 2 then goes to power. im assuming its prolly just some trash in the stering link valve or maybe the ram, who knows?? nothing a good flushing wouldnt fix i would imagine. i dont know for sure, im not real familiar with these. this thing sat for a few years and got a new pump installed last summer, maybe it got some trash in it then. im not sure, what i do know it doesnt leak, and when it works its very easy to steer the truck. any takers???

My 87 B250, 360 custom stopped running a couple of years ago. It just shut down in the Walmart parking lot. I towed it home and it has been on the backburner ever since. Last week when the weather cooled I decided to get it running. Since there was no spark I followed the FSM as it walks you through several diagnostic procedures for various ignition components using nothing more than a VOM. Turned out to be the ECU, which I scored brand new for $17.99!! Installed, the van fired right up. Now I am putting it back together and I don't know if I'm having a senior moment (or day) or if my memory is just leaving me. The air cleaner housing has a long and a short snorkel. The long snorkel connects to plastic duct work that goes to a fresh air opening in the core support. I cannot remember what the short snorkel connects to???? I cannot find a 81-88 van anywhere to take a look. Can anyone help?

I'm having an issue with the brakes on a '63 Ranchero I'm fixing for resale. I know, the main problem is it's a Ferd, and I vowed years ago never to buy another one but I had a weak moment and the price was right.

I've replaced all the usual brake parts a while back, master (early single res. type), wheel cyls and shoes. Brakes worked great during the several little test drives I've made until today. I take it out for a good drive before I stick the for sale sign on and notice the last few stops I make before getting back to the house my pedal is getting harder and the brakes seem to be fading a bit.

When I get it home I smell hot brakes and the brake lights are stuck on (has pressure type brake light switch on master). I jack up the vehicle and find all wheels pretty near locked up. I figure problem with new master so I pull it. Now I'm wondering if there could be another problem. Would debris in master from rebuild or something that got stuck in the brass splitter where brake lines attach to master cause this?

I picked this truck up earlier this year, I posted on the main forum page when I got it. It's a '69 W300 with a utility body on back. Good southern truck, drivers floor around mounting bolt is worst spot on truck, but should be an easy fix. I replaced the fuel filter, hoses, radiator hoses, plugs, wires, cap, points, belts, oil, antifreeze, etc. The more I run the truck, the better it runs. It was missing all the emblems, sunvisors, etc when I got it, I have since found everything it was missing and installed on the truck. I've drove it around some, enjoyed it, but have decided to just cut back to the other two trucks I have for now and not start another project. I currently have it on ebay #180554529404. A lot more information there. I will sell outside of ebay, so if your interested, shoot me an e-mail. Asking $5000.00. Comes with clear GA title.

so im on the harley, cruising thru the back roads when i see the front end of this old dodge hanging out. its a 70 and im not a fan of much over 67, so i really dont pay it much mind. but about a mile down the road it sinks in "that truck had full wheel covers!!". so in hopes of talking the owner out of them i spin around and head back. what i find when i get there starts changing my mind on only getting the wheel covers. owner starts talking... 88k original miles, fully loaded adventurer package, factory ac that works, hmmmmmm(:P) a 323 gear out back, 318la, a 727, and the campering package!(drl) but whoa, dealer installed spare fuel tank, the radio works, the fuel gauge works, its got a new starter, radiator, battery, fuel pump, water pump, and valve cover gaskets...and it has no rust out with perfect floors and cab mounts...the steps are perfect, the rockers and cab corners are too, the bed has never seen the light of day and the tail gate is sitting in the garage and has never been on the truck since 1970... and you want WHAT for it?????au)

so im back in a sweptline, sold the chevy that night, hit the boss up for an advance on what i was short, then went and picked up the truck the next day.... havent stopped grinnin since.

Master Cylinder info from various threads in the past year:

Posted August 22, 2009 by JimmieD
My current brake master is # E1353 [possibly that 'E' is for Echlin as NAPA p/n] and clutch master looks like 29798 C, or 28798 C.

All these below are for 1965 D-100's Clutch master, except last entry for Brake master:

P/N 36066 is listed for some trucks, not all.
DORMAN Part # CM36066 {First Stop #2230502, 5463098}
Bore = 1-1/8"; Exc. Town Panel or Town Wagon

Town Wagon/Town Panel uses:
DORMAN Part # CM35085 {First Stop #18002283, 1936563, 2230799}
Bore = 1-1/8"; Town Panel or Town Wagon

PERFECTION CLUTCH Part # 35085 for TW/TP and # 36066 for other Dodge truck.

Those are 1-1/8" bore for clutch master.

Brake master @ 1" bore is listed as:
RAYBESTOS Part # MC36202 {Professional Grade; Bore Size - 1", Number of Ports - 1 Primary Outlet Size - 1/4x18 NPT}

Bad news Kaegi

the UP 326 clutch master cylinder rebuild kit has become obsolete. I installed the UP 385 and it doesnt work right. the piston is too short. I had the guy at napa try to cross it over to another brand and no luck. So I guess the only solution is to switch to the later clutch master.
Re: Master cylinder
Happy New year,Gordo. 36202-36063=139 Ok,bad joke! Now what I want to know is what is the difference between the 1 port and 2 port MC? Please dont say 2-1=1...

JimmieD same thread >

To this you may add MC35085 for Town Wagon and I believe Sweptline Clutch Master Cylinder.

Posted by: Gordo Date: January 08, 2010 02:50AM

Perhaps Norm may want this in his forum records so lookup is duck soup. I dunno, but,.. Anyways herein raysbestos offers specs. 1962-64 ='s RAYBESTOS MC36063, Professional Grade Bore Size=1 1/8" Number of Ports=2 ... 1965-66 ='s RAYBESTOS MC36202, Professional Grade Bore Size=1" Number of Ports=1 ... Gordo I dunno, musta been cloudy, but numbers were in fact backwards.

Gordo
I put a 61 D100 Brake Master Clinder on a 66 D100. It works. I noticed they have different part numbers. What is the difference? Bore size or ? Thanks in advance, Gordo

Ok, specs from my '65 FSM. Beemrmax >

Brake Master Cyl Bore; D100 1.00 W/P/D200-W100 1.125 D/P300 1.25 W/WM300 1.25 All 500-600 trucks 1.50 Clutch Master Cylinder bore is 1.125 from a D100 to a D700 and the slave bore is 1" for all as well.

Re: finicky hydraulic clutch master cylinder JimmieD 1 year ago >

66 FSM shows 100 model has 1.00" brake master, 200 model has 1.125" and 300 model has 1.25". That's what I just posted for D-100 BRAKE MASTER bore. What does your FSM say about CLUTCH MASTER bore? The parts I listed are some of the available parts from the aftermarket for D-100.

1965 Dodge Shortbed $1000 or trade for crewcab (no replies)

I picked up this 65 about a year ago and finally got it running. Poly 318 with a 4 speed. Seems to run pretty good. I've driven around a few miles, but nothing to far. I had to pull the sender and unclog the pickup tube to get it running. The tank needs to be cleaned or a few fill ups to clean up the tank. Truck does have some rust in the floorboards. Rockers and doors appear to be solid. Truck does not have a title, I bought it from the son of an old timer that died and he didn't want to hassle with getting the title signed over. Truck is located just outside of Tucson, AZ. email slicknapier@yahoo.com for any questions. Sell outright or trade for a crewcab or town panel project..

I did the burn thing. I liked other ideas but this burn thing that Terry mentioned suited a lot of variables for me.

Funny thing because I don't have a torch so I used my store bought propane cartridge style. I mixed oil and gas 50-50 and put it in a squirt can.

The oil/gas mix helped my torch which was runnin out. LOL

So I just squirted the rubber and held it tell the torch burned out. I repeated 5 maybe 6 times soaking first then burning while torch was forced to run. Trying to unsrew each time, finally it budged on the 6th time. Filter intact and all.

It did so because that heat and the oil/gas mix allowed it to be slippery, as in "like new"!

Needless to say it would have melted off with a better torch setup, but I can't complain. Just took twice as long to put new life into the rubber instead of torching it. Actually I was sure it was burning into a crisp, but no.

I took it off and the rubber looked brand new.

It was definetly sealed by years of allowing the desert sun and other elements which had made the rubber into a swollen extreme tight seal job. Gordo

Clutch Master Cylinder Or is it a (12 replies)

Reagarding a 1961 to 1964 Sweptline Master cylinder.

Is it a clutch master cylinder, or is it a brake master cylinder?

This unit has one straight out threaded female and also one straight downward for brass fitting.

Here are the casting numbers from it's belly 1936854 - 8

Then top side casting number. If it were mounted these numbers read left to right and are parralell right next to firewall. These numbers.

either 81560 or blurred a bit 91560.

Do I have a clutch master or is it a brake master clyinder?

PS I sorta wondered if the one that has two entrys means it is for brakes and only one threaded entry was clutch? NAW,!! ???

Anyways it appears to bench funtion and I would like to know if it is clutch or not. Gordo

Dodge Sweptline D200 1965 Poly 318 V8
Runs good, white smoke when engine is warm. Leaks break fluid. I have a new dual master cylinder to go in it. All manuals including full service manual included.

This truck has lived it's entire life in a very dry/no salt climate, in the mountains in California and has very little rust.
